ARS and DTR Go Pink to Spread Breast Cancer Awareness

ARS Fleet Service and Delaware Truck Refinishers both show their community solidarity by throwing their support behind Cancer Support Community Delaware, through both donations and employees raising awareness about the issue.

Breast cancer is one of the most serious health concerns addressing women in the United States. Part of the fight against this is the struggle to raise community awareness. Two Delaware-based businesses ARS Fleet Service and partner firm, Delaware Truck Refinishers, recently announced that they stepped up to help. Both ARS and DTR went “Pink” on October 13th to raise consciousness of breast cancer’s dangers and to show support for a local non-profit – Cancer Support Community Delaware. Team members wore pink masks and pink shoe covers. Website logos were turned pink to raise awareness, as well as email signatures. A donation was made on behalf of the company to CSCD. This is the 5th year that ARS has partnered with Cancer Support Community Delaware. In previous years, they sponsored the Dickie Disabitino Golf and Tennis Classic.

“I’m very passionate about the cause due to my own experience with the impact of breast cancer,” commented Patrick Connell, owner and president of ARS and DTR. “Several family members have been affected by breast cancer, including my sister Janet Connell, who is our CEEO here at ARS.”

Janet Connell explained: “My mother, her sister, their mother, her sister. Mom’s best friend, my best friend, Dad’s sister, 3 of her dearest friends and so many others we know and love… We’ve all had breast cancer. And with the exception of my grandmother who died in 1950, we’ve all survived. Breast cancer is non discriminating. It doesn’t care about your culture, color or age. It doesn’t care about where you live. It doesn’t even care about your family history. Pay attention to your body. Pay attention to the signs. Go for annual mammograms. Don’t be afraid that you might be diagnosed. And if you are, don’t be afraid of the treatment or even the disease. Early detection saves lives. It saved mine. It saved my mother’s twice.”

ARS provides fleet service and mobile truck repair. Delaware Truck Refinishers is a full-service body repair, detail and paint shop. They serve Northern and Central Delaware, Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Northeastern Maryland. For more information go to ARS Fleet Service or Delaware Truck Refinishers.
